Rumi

Jalāl al-Dīn Muhammad Rūmī was born in the region of Balkh and settled in Konya, in present-day Türkiye, where he taught, wrote, and founded the lineage later known as the Mevlevi order. His major works — the six-book Masnavi and the lyric Divan-e Shams — run to tens of thousands of verses in Persian.

Rumi is among the most quoted poets on earth, and among the most misquoted: many popular English 'Rumi' lines are modern paraphrases with no counterpart in the Persian text.
